This was during an audience granted to the Ambassador of the United States to Cameroon by the Cameroon Minister of Communication.
It has been rumored around that the Americans have a special preference for candidates in Cameroon who are vying for the most supreme duty post of the nation come October 7th 2018. Of the nine candidates to run the race, public opinion has been tilted to pin point some to have benefitted from a special treatment from the Americans and they appear to be their favorites. Dwelling on this issue and a host of others during the audience granted the Ambassador of United States to Cameroon, His Excellency Peter Henry Barlerin by the Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary on August 14, 2018 in the cabinet of his ministerial department, the United State diplomat was frank enough to reveal to the press after discussions that his country does not have a special preference for any candidate. He continued that the wish of his country is to see a free, fair and credible elections unfold in Cameroon.
Focusing on the video document that went viral on the internet allegedly showing Cameroon soldiers in extrajudicial killings of women and babies in the Far North region of Cameroon, the United States Ambassador to Cameroon congratulated the Cameroon government who through a series of press releases and conferences done by government spokesperson has been firmly bent to throw more light on the issue. He lauded the Minister of Communication for his declarations and he noted that they are totally in support that those found guilty of committing such horrible crimes should be punished by the law in force.
The audience between the both states personalities that lasted some more than sixty minutes could not only have centered on his congratulations to the Cameroon government and the upcoming presidential. On the menu equally figured talks on the ongoing socio-political upheavals rocking the South West and North West regions of Cameroon. The unity and stability of Cameroon must be preserved. On this issue His Excellency Peter Barlerin said they are preoccupied with the acute violence and terror perpetrated in the area. They strongly condemn such odious practices and wished dialogue should be held as fast as possible so as to put an end to the crises that has already claim lives, caused the destruction of properties and sapped the economy of the regions.
