The national president of the ADD, Garga Haman Adji, is the first candidate in the presidential election of October 7, 2018 who reacted to the self-proclamation of Maurice Kamto, new elected Head of State.
“I followed through the media, through social networks, there are people who are so in a hurry to become President of the Republic, they find that, they may not be able to become so they take the leaders in proclaiming themselves President of the Republic. And if it were so easy, there would be as many Presidents of the Republic as Cameroonians. We still need to be a little more serious”. These were the words of the President of the alliance for democracy and development (ADD), Garga Haman Adji in an interview granted to the press to condemn Maurice Kamto’s act of declaring himself President of the Republic of Cameroon before the official proclamation of results by the Cameroon Constitutional Council
The candidate for Alliance for Democracy and Development added that “when one even dares to be a candidate for the presidency, it is because one is presumed to be serious. For example, this is the third time I’m running for this prestigious post of responsibility and I remain always in the most complete legality. It is not a matter of showing big arms or artificial intelligence through social networks to say that we are not the president of the Republic but social networks”, “he continued.
According to Garga Haman Adji, Maurice Kamto’s attitude is “fine lines”. “Let’s be serious my friends, let’s be serious my brothers. Our country needs peace and this is the only thing this country is showing and showing even more. Even President Biya, he is president until the proclamation of the results officially by the Constitutional Council, organ responsible for doing so. We must be legal, we must show examples and we must lead by example and not by street fights “, concludes the president of the ADD.
Apart from the president for Alliance for Democracy and Development, others have condemned this bridge of constitution by Maurice Kamto which they consider as an unpatriotic act. Some of these personalities who frowned towards this act were the, minister of territorial administration, Paul Atanga Nji, Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary and the president of the universe party, Professor Nku Mvondo likewise the national and international community.
Garga Haman Adji who was himself a candidate for the presidential election on Sunday October 7, 2018, invites all contenders to the highest office and all those who are interested in the electoral process, to respect the legal texts that frame the elections in Cameroon.
