2019 TOTAL CAN. MINSEP/MINDEF Concert on Security Dispositions

The CAF inspection teams have made series of rounds to Cameroon to inspect the different projects ahead of the 2019 Total CAN. But to blend this project with the success that lies ahead, security is needed for a hitch free football jamboree.

As the infrastructures to serve the purpose for the 2019 Total CAN is gradually but steadily grinding to completion, it is obviously necessary to take into consideration the security dispositions to be put in place for a hitch free competition. It is for this reason that the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mpkatt accompanied by the African Football Confederation (CAF) delegation to the Ministry of Defence. The delegation was received in audience by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph on October 28, 2018 amidst his close collaborators.

The objective of the meeting was clear according to the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, was to ask for collaboration from the Ministry of Defence as far as security in concern ahead of the 2019 Total CAN. According to Beti Assomo Joseph, the defence and security forces are ready at all time to serve with honour and loyalty when need arises. The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence also reminded the CAF delegation that the defence forces won’t only intervene in the domain of security but also in the domain of health, transportation, safety and rescue of the different delegations via the Directorate of Military Health, the fire fighters’ corps and the Cameroon Air Force.

As concerns the health services accredited for the competition they will work in close collaboration with the directorate of military health in cases of emergency. Talking about safety and rescue, the fire fighters’ corps are on standby to facilitate in case of any unforeseen circumstance. The Cameroon Air Force as usual in teamwork with CAMAIRCO will indulge in transporting the participants as well spectators from one region to another.

As far as the infrastructures are concern, the CAF president Ahmad Ahmad accompanied by Cameroon football legend during their last visit to Cameroon at the unity palace, where they appreciated the readiness of Cameroon prior to the competition. Thus with the presence of the minister of sport and physical education in the ministry of defence is a great step to compliment the preparations ahead of the football jamboree.

The CAF delegation and the Minister of Sports and Physical Education left the Ministry of Defence visibly satisfied with the assurance in the domain of security.
